Patients satisfaction at the ward after transplantation

Background: Patients after transplantation, which are admitted at the ward, need special care and especially nursing care provided by nurses. Very important role in the health care system is played also by the team of nurses, constituting an important link in the performance of tasks connected with the patient care. Combination of nursing services with medical services guarantees comprehensiveness and continuity of care, its adequacy with regard to needs. There is a lot of research about patient's satisfaction with delivered care. The providers of health care are interested in the roles of leadership and management which are connected with: top management activity, staff activity which refers to patients' needs. Nowadays, patient is an active recipient of care service. Patient's opinion is important, because tells more what kind of strategy should be realized by ensuring a good quality of care. Patient should have a possibility to decide and give a feedback about quality of care. Patient's satisfaction from provided care should be a priority for Public Health Care managers. Patient's satisfaction with delivered care gave information about quality of provided services. Aim: Identifi cation of patients' expectations after transplantation and satisfaction with delivered care.
Material/Methods: Own anonymous survey, which included 34 questions: 33 closed and 1 open question. The pilot study was carried out among 29 patients. An anonymous questionnaire was conducted in Immunology, Transplantology and Internal Medicine Unit of Medical University of Warsaw. Including criteria: patients above 18 years, without any psychological and mental problems, before discharge home.
Results and conclusions: Patients are mostly satisfi ed with provided care.
Patients pay attention to various elements of provided care. However, usually the basic needs are accurate diagnosis of patient's health problem and swift, professionally delivered help. They would like to have more information about their disease and this is still a very big problem for patients. That is why it is needed to implement new occupation- an educator in health issues.
