Cell and tissue preservation and storage for transplantation. Present and future.

Abstract
Historical remarks and data concerning the present status of tissue preservationand storage are presented. Even though, the need for preserved tissue allografts is still very high andtissue bank services are very popular, the opinion is expressed that the future of tissue banking maybe correlated with organ and tissue engineering.
