As it became a tradition, the 2005 American Transplant Congress was organized by two societies, namely the American Society of Transplant Surgeons and the American Society of Transplantation, and took place in Seattle from May 21-25. The congress presented an excellent forum for discussion of multiple updated clinical trails and novel approaches for solid organ and cellular transplantation. Significant number of presentations focused on recent progress in basic science related to the most advanced technologies, including stem cells, gene-targeted animals, bioinformatics, proteomics and microarrays.
