I have been invited to give a summary of some of the presentations on Organ donation and procurement at the American Transplant Congress held in Seattle, Washington, USA, May 21-25 2005. It is definitely not possible to give an all inclusive and neutral summary of all the information given on the subjects related to organ donation and procurement during the congress. There where for example 56 abstracts on “donation”, 23 on “NHBD”, 53 on “donors marginal” and 15 on “donors unrelated”. I will deal with some of the ones I found the most interesting and also on some of the invited presentations. It is a subjective sample of the presentations given with some comments. I hope to stimulate the reader’s appetite, by giving some information and also the numbers of the abstracts where the interested reader can find more information. The abstracts can be found in the abstract book [1]. I will also comment more in detail on some of the issues discussed at the congress and give references to webbpages and papers where more
information is available….
