Abstract
Over one thousand of heart transplant procedures, that were performed between 1985 and 2002 in Poland, is a reason for satisfaction for the whole group of Polish transplantologists family. This development was possible thanks to deep engagement of cardiac surgeons, cardiologists, anesthesiologists, nurses and many people of good will from Zabrze, Kraków and Warszawa. However, a level of 120 heart transplantation per year for almost 40 million people nation is not satisfactory, any more.
