Acceptability of the concept of and the sources used in xenotransplantation in different cultural and religious systems are an important part of the discussion. The basic biomedical ethical principles affecting any kind of therapy are also relevant. As regards the recipient the right to proper information about risks and the opportunity do not supersede the right of communities to have access to knowledge of the risks of the technique to them, and the security of knowing that reasonable precautions have been= taken. The animals used also must be treated in a humane manner. (Are the methods of production of eggs etc. humane?). The other ethical problems of priorities surrounding transplantation in general also apply.
