LiverTransplant Program in Prague. Results of consecutive first 100 orthotopic liver transplantations

Abstract

The first liver transplantation in Czech Republic was performed by the team of Professor V. Koristek in Brno in 1983. Liver transplant program as a routine program sufficient to coverthe needs of most of our patients with end-stage liver disease was commenced in lKEM Prague in April 1995. Until that time lKEM already was running kidney, heart as well as pancreas transplant programs. The liver transplant program was started in close cooperation of Professor Peter Neuhaus, Surgery department of Virchow Clinic, Humboldt University, Berlin, who provided us with the experience of large transplant centre.
