This issue of the Annals of Transplantation contains selected papers presented at the recent Congress of the Czech Transplantation Society. Striz and associates (p. 6) have studied MRP8/14 and Procalcitonin levels in sera of posttransplant patients showing that measurement of both parameters can be useful in discrimination between rejection and systemic bacterial infection. Slavcev et al. (p. 12) in their elegant study investigated the presence of anti-HLA antibodies in the pre and post transplant sera of patients receiving kidney graft documenting that characterization of such antibodies may help to predict the onset of immunological complications after grating.
