A tale of a liver transplantation.

Abstract
This special issue on psychological issues in organ transplantation starts and ends with reports from patients or their relatives. The first report is from
a patient who received a liver in the early days of transplantation. Following a year long course of inconclusive diagnostic procedures accompanied with
a steady decline in her liver function this patient experienced all the terrible side effects of modern medical treatment. Liver transplantation worked out
to be the live saving treatment for her and she recovered to live a 'normal' life, working on a medical career, married and is now mother of a healthy child.
Still the reader will recognize that in her narrative of the year long experience she never mentions a doctor. This absence of any medical specialist in her tale
should lead us to an important question: How good do we care for the difficult
